You’ve probably seen the acronym DAF. You might even have one. But what is DAF Day, and why does it matter?

Every year, more donors are turning to Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) as a tool for charitable giving. They offer flexibility, immediate tax benefits, and time to be thoughtful about where your dollars go. But that delay can come at a cost: over $230 billion is currently sitting in DAFs across the U.S., waiting to be granted.

That’s where DAF Day comes in.

A Day to Move Generosity Forward

First launched in 2024, DAF Day is recognized each year in October to raise awareness about the fastest-growing giving vehicle in America — and the need to activate it. While DAFs are powerful tools, they only fulfill their purpose when the funds they hold are granted out to charities doing real work on the ground.

At GiveClear, we believe DAFs should accelerate generosity, not delay it. Faithful giving doesn’t sit still.

Why the Wait?

Most DAF holders don’t intend to hoard funds. The reasons for ungranted dollars are usually more practical than cynical:

  • Donors are unsure where to give
  • They're saving for a future "big" gift
  • They want more confidence about the impact

Those are all valid. But the longer funds sit, the longer real needs go unmet. DAF Day is a chance to say: Let’s start where we are. Let’s move something.

How GiveClear Helps

GiveClear exists to help donors give with clarity, confidence, and purpose. We provide:

  • Real-time impact reporting
  • Lower fees for small donors compared to traditional providers
  • Access to a wide network of nonprofits
  • A platform designed for transparency and movement

We also believe the size of the gift doesn’t determine its significance. A $50 grant to feed a family matters. A $500,000 grant to fund a clinic matters. Faithful giving at any level is worth celebrating.

A Simple Step You Can Take Today

If you have a DAF, consider making one grant today. Big or small, it’s a powerful way to live out generosity and support the causes that align with your values.

Because generosity isn’t just about storing up. It’s about sending out.

Don’t sit. Give.
